So wallpaper History. Around 4000 B.C., the earliest known form of "paper" was introduced: Egyptian papyrus. Wallpaper actually began in ancient China, first because the Chinese invented paper, and secondly because they glued rice paper onto their walls as early as 200 B.C. So not only are we going to look at design but also have a go. Pattern is very personal and has been very popular in the last few years. We discussed some of our favourite designers Emma J shipley for her bold use of colour and mirrored imagery.

Designs in Laura Ashley have been very popular in the last 30 years and more known especially for their country English style.
Pattern design has been extremely influenced by the art and design of the time for example
the Art Nouveau movement and the art deco movement.
Tonia and I have only been introduced recently and it's like having a long lost sister both nuts about all art and crafts. Tonia has been enjoying and making crafts for ever and more recently has decided to make it into a business we have talked about many possible adventures and this what has bought us to our first blog project together. We both have a love of homeware so patterns for wallpaper and fabrics is the theme. Here are some designs we have worked on today We have decided to do 4 designs before the next blog. (no pressure then!)
Tonia and I have used white background and in our next blog we will show you the finished results wil look like in colour, our designs are in the Angel and Rose collection maybe printed in the future ????? Talking of Upholstery the last lesson I chatted about on the blog 30 we had got this far.
Phil and I have been back to class this is were we left off, and we have now completed the arms.
Corcyra
cutting the arm material then deciding how to finish the design was a little nerve wrecking but I was very pleased with this scollaped effect.
The back of the arms had to be tied in then hessian was attached to the sides.
hats it for this week we will be back with back with our finished wallpaper design next week and an update on the pink throne.
Take a look at our new site www.bestofbritishboutique.com and of course take a look at Tonia's work,
see you next week,
